Sup? Is there any phrase more loathed in the gay community at this moment? It's come to represent the worst of us, like the constant qualification of how masculine one is, the transactional nature of our online correspondence, and worst of all, our inability to communicate with one another as we would in real life. One of the reasons MISTER exists is because we've heard from so many who are frustrated with the way people chat on gay dating apps. MISTER was created to enhance online communication and start a conversation with real men. And while we can't change the way everyone chooses to converse, we can poke a little fun at what constitutes conversation these days.

See what happens when MISTER meets Cruisey Bro and watch this all too familiar (and all too funny) tale unfold.

How do you think we can improve our communication in the gay community?

Sand Blast - The Biggest Blast You'll Have All Summer

There's nothing better than being on the beach with hundreds of hot men folk. Though one could argue it gets a little bit better when you add in music and drinks that come in buckets! It was just a few years ago that I experienced my first Sandblast weekend. in Asbury Park, NJ, and I've been going back every year since, mainly because Asbury has climbed fairly quickly up the ranks as one of my favorite summer getaways. It's a great mix of the best parts of Jersey Shore (yes, there are plenty of best parts) and gay destinations like Provincetown and Fire Island without being overpopulated. They've been working hard down there to get things up and running, and they're well on their way at this point. In fact, one of the reasons Road Trip weekend and the Sandblast beach party exist, was to get gays down to the town to see how much fun AP can be.

MISTER is going to have a great presence this year (July 20-22) and we're super excited about our involvement which includes sponsoring the volleyball game on Friday from 2-5pm, the Underwear party on Saturday from 1-5am, and the pool party and tea dance on Sunday from 11am-8pm. We've got some really fun stuff planned so come on down!

I'll be there, along with a few others from the DH/MISTER crew, so if you see us out and about be sure to say hello and save us a dance!...

The Last Days of Folsom?

Folsom Street East returns to New York today with it's mix of leather, street fair, and daddies galore, but rumblings of residents complaining about the event may make this year it's last. The largest outdoor fetish street festival on the eastern coast, is up against the new condos on W. 28th that don't want that kind of debauchery on their door step (even though they moved to the neighborhood knowing full well what it was). Joe. My. God. has a great write up of the current situation and sums it up best: "It's the oldest story in Manhattan. A formerly shitty area full of gay clubs, titty bars, and danger suddenly becomes posh. And out goes the nightlife."

It's a really fun event though, and I'd say pretty mild given the subject matter. Mostly it's a block party where you can booze and cruise all the hot daddies and check out some interesting leather vendors. MISTER will be there hanging out and giving away some swag, so be sure to keep an eye out for the guys and say hello!

What's your take on the age old story of gays cleaning up run down neighborhoods and increasing the property value only to be pushed out years later by the straights?

With all the parties, parades, and flag waving, Pride month can get pretty exhausting. Some people like to avoid it altogether, but I say it's something worth celebrating. Even if it's in your jammies on the couch with a pint of ice cream in front of you.

Focus Features is celebrating its 10th anniversary by releasing their collection of LGBT films On Demand beginning June 1. They've got a pretty impressive roster of movies, including the gold standard in gay heartbreak, Brokeback Mountain, Far from Heaven, The Kids Are All Right, Milk, My Summer of Love, and Pariah. I've seen most of them with the exception of their latest release, Loose Cannons (pictured), the rom com about two brothers coming out to their conservative Italian family, and while you can't go wrong with Brokeback or Milk, I'm happy to see some light hearted love in the mix. They've got plenty of ways to watch, including On Demand and Netflix, so check out the full list here.

What movies would be on your Pride playlist?

Daddyhunt CEO Featured in the Huffington Post

Our excitement for the MISTER app just keeps growing with every passing download and we just want to shout it from the rooftops. Or in this case, the Huffington Post. Check out this great article Daddyhunt CEO and MISTER founder, Carl Sandler wrote on the current state of things in the mobile dating arena. He discusses the rampant ageism and disrespect that currently fuels so many apps and explains why the MISTER app was created to circumvent that kind of behavior.

He makes some really good points, many of which you'll no doubt have some thoughts on. So go ahead and start the convo in the comments below.

We don't know if you've heard but International Mister Leather is this weekend. What's that? You don't have anything to wear? Well fear not, fellow leather lover, we're here to help. While you may not have the time to put together an elaborate outfit of straps, snaps, and zippers, there are plenty of simple leather wear options out there that can pack one hell of a sexy punch. Just grab a pair of your darkest jeans, and add any one or combination of the following accessories for a quick and effective leather ensemble.

1. Leather Cuff/Arm Band

These accent items are a quick fix and can make your arms sexy and jacked. Just remember, it matters what side you wear it on: left arm means top, and right means bottom.

2. Suspenders

These have grown in popularity over the past few years, namely because their a hot look with or without a shirt. If you can't find them in leather, a simple black pair will do in a pinch. Just watch your nipples for the inevitable snap back from passer-bys.

3. Collar

If you're feeling submissive, leather collars are a great way to broadcast just how much you want to be dominated. Even better, if you're a dog owner, you may already have one lying around the house.

4. Leather Hat

Take note: it takes a highly qualified Daddy to pull of this look. But when done right, the boys come flocking, ready to live out their Tom of Finland fantasies.

5. Leather Vest

Same as above. The simpler the better.

6. Leather Pants/Chaps

If you've...

Fur the Love of Hair

I don't think I'll ever tire of looking at man with fur. Luckily, photographers and artists love the subject just as much as I do. FUR: The Love of Hair compiles dozens of iconic and original contemporary images, all exploring the endless delights of men’s hair. Featuring artist from Japan, Australia, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Canada, and the United States, the book takes a global approach to all things hirsute, including commentary and essays that examine and celebrate gay culture's interest in hair.

The book is already out in Europe and the rest of the world May 8. Click here for more info and purchasing.

If you could devote an entire coffee table book to one subject, what would it be?

Given how much we talk about masculinity around these parts, I thought you'd all be interested in a new documentary from Super Size Me's Morgan Spurlock. Mandsome takes a look at everything from men's grooming to the masculine ideals many of us in the gay community still use for comparison.

"From America's greatest beardsman, to Morgan Spurlock's own mustache, Executive Producers Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Ben Silverman bring us a hilarious look at men's identity in the 21st century. Models, actors, experts and comedians weigh in on what it is to be a man in a world where the definition of masculinity has become as diverse as a hipster's facial hair in Williamsburg. The hilarious follicles of men's idiosyncratic grooming habits are thoroughly combed over as men finally take a long hard look in the mirror."

Now I love me some Arrested Development peeps, but I'm curious what, if any, attention will be paid to the gay community in all this? The trailer seems focused on the emergence of the metrosexual, a trend that got a lot of media attention not too long ago. The film premieres at this month's Tribeca Film Festival, so I'll wait to hear if the gay angle is addressed, but what I really want is a documentary that gives equal weight to what it means to be a man in both worlds.

What do you think? Will we get some insightful answers from this documentary or will it be more of a "hey, that straight guy...
