All relationships are complicated, perhaps none more so than those between daddies and their younger paramours. We’ve heard it from many of you firsthand: from finances to mismatched sex drives to having to deal with total strangers (or worse, family and friends) giving you and your stud the side eye when you walk down the street, Daddy-Son relationships bring a whole host of unique challenges and relationship issues. They can also be some of the best, fieriest, and most fulfilling relationships around. But when they fizzle, you’d best believe the sparks will fly! Just for fun, we’ve cherry-picked a few of the most notorious and talked-about Daddy-Son relationships the world has ever witnessed. Consider them cautionary tales when it comes to May-December romancing. And count your blessings you weren’t involved in any of them.

Calvin Klein and Nick Gruber

Calvin Klein is infamous for raising temperatures with his racy ad campaigns, but it was his relationship with army soldier turned gay porn model Nick Gruber, 47 years his junior, that had his friends and fans raising their eyebrows. The 70-year-old fashion designer was reportedly so smitten with the then-19-year-old Gruber after seeing a picture of him posing in nothing but a green jacket (as a nude model, Gruber went under the name Aaron Skyline) that he launched a full-blown sugar-daddy assault on the young man, moving him into a multi-million-dollar New York City apartment, giving him a full makeover (complete with a...

daddy dallas pride

Dallas Pride took place this past weekend and as the pics and posts roll in we'll know soon enough if community adhered to the newly enforced dress code. That dress code asked that participants in the September 15th Alan Ross Texas Free Parade cover up: "no bare asses, no breasts (even with pasties), no tight underwear on dancers, nothing too political at all". Many Dallas gay daddies were in an uproar claiming that they were trying to make the parade as heteronormative as possible given the increasing number of heterosexual attendees and corporate sponsorships. Which begs the question, with queer culture becoming more and more accepted and mainstream, will some of our more under the radar antics be phased out? Nudity (both tasteful and lewd) and the freedom to be sexually free has always been a glorious staple of our community. One that can be shocking, but one that's deeply significant in that it echoes quite loudly what these parades have always been about: that we are not going to hide and remain unseen in the shadows. We are proud of who we are.

It also brings up an interesting question about Pride itself: as we break down more barriers and gain more acceptance, will Pride even be necessary in 10 - 15 years? We're more visible than ever and as we look to tackle equality in all it's forms, we'll be able...

Welcome to "Gay Founding Fathers," a new series that goes back—sometimes way back—through queer culture to introduce you to gay men who made a difference, made history, made us swoon, and just plain made us be proud to be who we are. First up: actor Sal Mineo.

With his soulful brown eyes, thick Italian hair, and shy lips that always seemed to quiver as if they were about to ask the prettiest girl in school to the prom, Sal Mineo didn’t just fit the mold of a teen idol, he was the mold. Along with James Dean, his co-star in the classic film Rebel Without a Cause, Mineo  helped usher in a new kind of screen idol: the brooding but sensitive heartthrob. The kind of guy who’d defend his girlfriend’s honor but who’d just as easily turn around and cry on her shoulder over the injustices of the world. It was a personality-trait match made in teenage girl heaven, and it helped make the Bronx-born actor one of the biggest movie stars of the 1950s.

Unfortunately, it also led to his career downfall. By 1960, Mineo, now 21 years old, was too old to play the types of roles that made him famous, and despite winning a Golden Globe and a second Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Exodus (1960), his Hollywood shelf-life had run its course. Mineo was baffled by his sudden loss of popularity, later saying, “One minute it seemed I had more movie offers than I could handle, the next, no one wanted me.” For the remainder of his life, Mineo continued to appear occasionally on television and in low-budget films (including the homoerotic cult...

Kissing isn't always as smooth as it's portrayed in the movies. In fact, sometimes it can be down right awkward. Vloggers Mark and Ethan took to YouTube to illustrate just how awkward (and oftentimes hilarious) those moments can be. It doesn't hurt that both these boys are adorable while doing so.

What kind of awkward kissing would you add to the list?

With Provincetown Bear Week that began last Saturday, we couldn't help but get nostalgic for last year's trip in which we investigated all things bear. We even tried to get to the bottom of why bears woof. If you've never been and you're into the fun, friendly, lovable bears, make it a point to get up their over the week (July 13th - 20th) or start planning for next year. It's a great place to make friends and cuddle up with some really incredible guys from all over the world.

Take a look at our adventures from last year's trip:

When you're at an event that's 95% straight men and women, the last thing you'd expect to see is two men being affectionate towards one another so openly. Or at least that's what I had come to believe. But there I was, in Dover, Delaware no less, where not one but several gay couples were holding hands, each other, and dancing affectionately with one another in a sea of heterosexuality. It was at the Firefly Music Festival where the atmosphere was decidedly young and fratty that my mind was blown at how these young gays were so open and nonchalant about their public displays of affection. It was actually pretty amazing and gave me a lot of hope for the future. Because no one batted an eye as the couple waiting for food held each other and placed a few loving kisses on one another neck till their nachos were served. Or while in midst of another group of guys two young lovers started making out shirtless with one another. Now it's one thing to be in a predominantly straight venue, but when it's fueled by alcohol you really do never know what kind of reactions could be triggered which is why I'm generally in the camp of being cautious with PDA. My friends and I were a little in awe of these young gays in their early 20s and their unabashed confidence in being gay. Just another reminder at far we've really come in ways we don't think about often.

Do you find that, as this next generation comes of age, younger gays are more open and affectionate in public?

MR. Yigit Pura is this week's Real Man We Admire.

We're all about a nice set of "cakes," but what really makes us melt quicker than tempered chocolate is a guy who can bake one from scratch. It's a recipe that this week's Real Man We Admire, Yigit Pura, has down pat. Not only is this openly gay pastry chef one delicious dish, he's also making some pretty sweet moves when it comes to supporting the LGBT community.

Reality-TV fans no doubt recognize this baking beauty as the winner of the first season of Bravo’s “Top Chef: Just Desserts,” where he showcased his expertise in the kitchen and his ability to create all sorts of mouth-watering morsels with just seconds to spare. It’s a talent that took shape while growing up in Ankara, Turkey, and later honed at some of the country’s finest restaurants, including Le Cirque 2000, Daniel, and the Four Seasons Hotel. Since taking that culinary crown, he's gone on to become one of his industry’s most sought-after chefs and personalities, opening the hugely successful Tout Sweet Pâtisserie in San Francisco’s bustling Union Square neighborhood and penning his first-ever cookbook, Sweet Alchemy, which will hit bookstore shelves later this year.

Pretty impressive stuff for someone who’s just 32 years old, but it’s Pura's commitment to the community that’s truly the icing on the cake. Over the years, he's worked to promote a number...
