SXSW MISTER PanelPicker Vote

We’re way into gay gamers, cinema-going studs, music-listening muscle boys, and digital-minded dudes, which is why we can’t wait for next year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival, going down next March 7-16, deep in the heart of Austin, Texas—it’s easily the biggest and best music and tech event of its kind!

MISTER was proud to be part of last year’s festivities with a MISTER Meetup at Oilcan Harry's, and we’re hoping to be there again in 2014 with a very special interactive panel event we’ve cooked up featuring MISTER CEO Carl Sandler and a very special diva comedian (think Margaret Cho or Chelsea Handler), who will go head to head on all kinds of funny, sexy, and irreverent topics. Read all about it, here.

Sound like a good time? Give it a thumbs-up on SXSW’s official Panelpicker website! Your vote will tell event organizers that you want MISTER to be part of this incredible week-long festival and help us introduce more great guys (and hopefully more than a few Texas cowboys) to MISTER.

Casting your vote is easy:

1. Click here and sign up for a free SXSW Panelpicker account through September 6.
2. Check your e-mail to confirm your registration.
3. Click on the MISTER Panelpicker page.
4. Click the thumbs-up icon on the left side of the page.

Better yet, saddle up and attend the conference yourself! There's going to be tons of LGBT bars, clubs, and special events to check out. Here's just a few local hotspots worth moseying up to:

oilcan harrys

Oilcan Harry's
Consistently named Best Gay/Lesbian Hangout by locals, this dance club featuring music, three full-service bars, and an outdoor deck is practically Ground Zero for all things gay in Austin and played host to several free LGBT meetups at last year's conference. A must-stop for SXSW newbies and veterans alike. 211 West 4th St.; open 2pm-2am.

iron bear

The Iron Bear
On the prowl for bears, cubs, otters, wolfs, and other assorted Texan wildlife? Stop in for a beer and set your trap at Austin's premiere bear bar featuring live music, down-home guys, and special events on a regular basis. The vibe here is fun and friendly, so leave your drama at the door. 121 West 8th St.; open 3pm-2am.

Founded in 2006, this totally free, all-ages event typically falls on the last day of SXSW and features an extra-queer mix of gay bands, food, beer, and other LGBT treats. It's a great way to end an already awesome week of music. Like them on Facebook for updates on next year's party.

stubbs bbq

Get your fingers dirty and sink your teeth into authentic Texas BBQ while catching some of SXSW's biggest and best musical acts. The Killers, Death Cab For Cutie, Wilco, Joan Jett, The Flaming Lips, Arcade Fire, Snoop Dogg, and Scissor Sisters are just a few of the legendary artists to grace the Stubb's stage in recent years, so we're more than a little excited to see who'll be rocking out there next March. 801 Red River St.; 11am-10pm.

The folks who come from out of town think SXSW is a wonderful event and some of the downtown business owners think so too. But most of the locals think of it as the biggest traffic jam of the year and the 10 days when the cost of downtown parking triples or more. Most of my friends call the event "South by So What?!"

:) Have you been to any of the gay stuff? It seemed like Oilcan Harry's had stuff going on all weekend.

I have been to hear SXSW acts at Oilcan and at Chaindrive. In both cases, the bands were just noise. Sounded like a train wreck with drums!

Aplicación buena, hombres mejores :)
